Chef for a Day

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can volunteer? How many people can volunteer?

Chef for a Day groups may include a maximum of twelve (12) volunteers. Everyone who comes with your group will count toward this total and must be there to actively participate. This is a group activity, so if you are in need of some sous chefs, you might consider your family, friends, business, or community circles. RMHC cannot pair individuals with already established groups.

Chef for a Day volunteers must be at least 8 years old and actively participate in cooking and serving the entire time. All children must be supervised at all times.

Middle school and high school groups, must be accompanied by a teacher or parent chaperone for their entire visit.

You are responsible for recruiting volunteers to your group. RMHC cannot add individual volunteers to other groups.

Are there health requirements/restrictions?

There is no longer a vaccination requirement for Chef for a Day volunteers. Even though COVID cases are low in Pima County, it still is a potential risk for a family whose child has compromised health.  If you are experiencing any symptoms of illness (including those consistent with allergies), please take a COVID test before coming to the Ronald McDonald House.

Volunteers must wear gloves and hair ties. Participants must bring hair ties and RMHC-SA will provide gloves. Additional health practices during participation will include frequent hand washing and changing gloves, and no face, hair, or phone touching.
