Chef for a Day

Our Chef for a Day program is a fun way to make a generous contribution of your time and support to families.  These guidelines will help your group plan for a fun time at the Ronald McDonald House.  Please click on the flyer for more information.

Get a group of 12 people or less together and contact Ashley Milne at the Ronald McDonald House at 326-0060 ext. 110 to schedule a date and time to prepare a meal.

  • Monday through Friday
    • Breakfast: 9am to 10am
    • Lunch: 12pm to 1pm
    • Dinner: 6pm to 7pm
  • Saturday and Sunday
    • Brunch: 10:30am to 11:30am
    • Dinner: 5pm to 6pm
  •  Note: As a courtesy to our families, please conclude Friday meals (including clean up) by 7pm.

Decide what you would like to make.  Some suggestions for breakfast include eggs, bacon, ham, pancakes, and waffles.  Suggestions for dinner include pot roast, hamburgers, casseroles, chicken and pork chops.   Anything that can be stored and easily heated up is best since some families may be at the hospital during the actual mealtime.  PLEASE NOTE that in accordance with food safety standards and regulations, we can only accept meals that are prepared here at the House or from a commercial kitchen.

What you should bring. Please bring an appetizer (i.e. salad) and main dish to prepare; dessert is optional.  RMH has one large kitchen equipped with four stoves and three ovens, as well as an outdoor grill, pots, pans, and dishes.  If you have a preferred pot or pan, please bring it with you and remember to take it home with you when you leave.

How much you should prepare. Please plan to make enough food for approximately 25 people.
