Family Room is Now Open at Diamond Children’s Medical Center

The Ronald McDonald Family Room has moved from UMC and is now in the new Diamond Children’s Medical Center.  We are now located on the 4th floor of the Diamond Children’s Medical Center by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  The new Family Room will still offer the same comfort to families by providing the same amenities and friendly faces.  We are very excited about the move, so please come check us out!

Celebrating Families with The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain

On Thursday, May 6th, the ladies and gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain committed to a day of appreciation in recognition of Mother’s Day.  The mothers at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona were treated to a day of spa treatments, cooking demonstrations and a delicious lunch courtesy of the resort.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa brought a team of therapists to provide mini spa experiences allowing the mothers a little time for themselves to relax without the worry of being away from their loved ones.  In addition, they were given a small floral arrangement, courtesy of SavOn Flowers.  And not to worry, dads were included too.

The culinary team, lead by Executive Chef, Clayton Van Hoojidonk prepared a full luncheon buffet including a healthy meal of baked salmon gremolata with mediterranean influences and specially prepared additions.  The children enjoyed a meal of spaghetti and meatballs and as a special treat, baked Chocolate Chip Cookies to share with everyone.

“This inspired day came directly from our ladies and gentlemen,” said Director of Human Resources, Claudia Campos.  “Community involvement is core to our philosophy and this is the first of many opportunities for The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain to give back to others.”

“It was an amazing day filled with laughter, hugs and great sincerity” said Director of Development, Anne Rounds.  “We continued to hear from our families about generosity and graciousness experienced that day.  For some, this was a first time experience that created an impressionable memory.”

Camp Sunrise

Arizona Camp Sunrise Summer Fun Day Camps, provided by the American Cancer Society, are for children who have or have had cancer and their siblings, ages 3-7.  There is a day camp held in Phoenix and one in Tucson.  Both camps run for 3 weeks each summer.  Camp Sunrise has become very close to Chandler, one of their campers.  Because Chandler is staying at the Ronald McDonald House, Dave and Cammie with Camp Sunrise decided to rally their efforts and collect donations for the House.  Thank you so much Camp Sunrise!

Desert Christian Elementary

Desert Christian Elementary School’s Student Council recently had a drive at their school to see who could collect the most paper towels, sanitary wipes, etc.  With steep competition, this was the end result of the drive!  Wow!  Thank you so much Desert Christian Elementary!
